Well I've finally made it, I'm officially a blogger : ). I thought it was about time to let everyone know what I've been up to the last few years. No, not having babies, sorry Mom : ), but I have had the opportunity to have some great adventures and learn a few things along the way.
For those of you who may not know me that well I will give a brief history recap. I was born and raised in the sleepy little town of Hurricane, Utah. I am the youngest of 4 and the only girl. Yes I am spoiled : ). I grew up riding four-wheelers and dirt bikes and exploring as much of Southern Utah as possible. I graduated from Hurricane High School in the spring of 2005 and enrolled at Evans Hairstyling College 2 weeks later. I learned a lot there and not all of it was about hair, but I had a great time. I received my state board licenses a year later, and I have been doing hair ever since.
In the fall of 2007 I met my future husband. We met speed dating... yes speed dating : ) It was at a post fireside get together that ended up being more than either of us bargained for. As the boys arrived they were blindfolded and placed in different parts of the house, the girls were each given a number and told to rotate from boy to boy telling them our number and a little bit about ourselves. Needless to say, I was not impressed and was ready to leave almost before it started. But then I saw Jordan, sitting in a room blindfolded. In my eyes he outstripped every guy there by far. I couldn't wait to talk to him! My chance finally came and I threw the rules out the window. I told him my name hoping that he would come and find me after the boys took off their blindfolds, and destiny was on my side because I got him for the last rotation. I was the first person he saw when he took off his blindfold. He definitely looked pleasantly surprised : ). We talked the rest of the evening and exchanged phone numbers before parting. We had our first date a week later, and we went bowling and made homemade pizza with a group of his friends. The rest is history as they say. Jordan later told me that when he took off his blindfold and saw me, that he didn't just looked surprised because he thought I was cute, but because he felt he was looking at his future wife. I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity I had to be there that night, I love my sweetheart and feel very lucky to have him forever.

Jordan is an ardent BYU football fan and I enjoy a good game as well every once in a while : )
We both LOVE traveling and going to New York was our first trip together, it was amazing!! We went right before Christmas so we got to see the city in all of its holiday splendor.
We also got to see the nation's capitol on the same trip, I want to go back sooo bad!! I could spend a whole week going through the Smithsonian.
Jordan is a pilot and I love it when I get to go flying with him!
Jordan and I were married May 3, 2008 for time and all eternity in the St George, Utah temple.
We lived in Cedar City, Utah for about two years where I did hair while Jordan took online classes for his degree and attended the local flight school. The effects of the bad economy really started to show in Cedar in mid 2008 to 2009. My clientele started to dwindle and Jordan's flight school shut down. We, as well as many others at Jordan's flight school had paid for their entire training and had only received part of it before the closure. There were no pay outs or apologies, just simply: "The flight school is closed indefinitely". They filed for bankruptcy shortly after and it became apparent that we would never receive the money we lost. The time had come for one of my "learning moments". I had a very hard time coping with the closure of the school and what it meant for our future. Jordan and I had some very tough talks about what to do next. He still had training to complete before he could start making money as a pilot and it would cost a substantial amount to obtain it. Then there was the question of, once all his training was complete, would he even be able to find a job as a pilot? The economy was so bad, especially in aviation. Flying is what Jordan is passionate about and I decided that I would never be the reason that he stopped, no matter the cost. I just had to have a little patience and a lot of faith that things would work out. So we made the firm decision to keep moving forward. Jordan got certified to become an instructor and started looking for jobs. To make a more steady income I had taken a job in management at a Super Cuts nearby. Instructor jobs were slim to none so Jordan also took a part time job at a Hertz car rental while he continued to search for opportunities in flying. Early in 2010 Jordan applied and received a semester long internship at the corporate offices of SkyWest. It was a great opportunity, he met some wonderful people and learned a lot about the company. A couple of weeks after the internship was completed Jordan got a job as a flight instructor. Our prayers were answered. Skyler Metcalf is a fellow pilot and married to a neighbor that I had grown up with. He had been instructing at a school in Salt Lake and as they had become busier, they decided to hire another instructor. Skyler's wife Kara, for some reason, thought of us. I will be eternally grateful to them for getting us that job because it opened the door of possibilities for us.
We moved to Bountiful, Utah in May of 2010. Jordan began instructing and I started looking for a job as well. Kara is also to thanked for my job at the Red Cross. She told me that is where she had worked as a phlebotomist before she had her first child and how great it had been. I looked into phlebotomy, got certified and applied for the job. Two weeks later I interviewed at the American Red Cross, got the job and started right away. It was a big adjustment from what I was used to as a cosmetologist but I learned a lot and grew to love my job. Our jobs kept us pretty busy but we did make time to have little adventures now and then.

Absolutely loved Bingham Copper Mines, I could have looked over the railing all day. I really, really wanted to ride one of the really big loaders. I'm a little weird I know : )
So we drove to Yellowstone, intending to camp, ended up sleeping in our car because we were afraid of bears. Then the next day as we were driving into the park we saw a bear.... fears confirmed. Had a great time though, I will never forget that fun little road trip.
In February of 2011 our life was to change again. The flight school that Jordan was working for in Salt Lake was good but he wasn't building his flight hours very quickly. So we were excited to hear about a very busy flight school in Phoenix AZ that boasted that the instructors got an average of 4 to 6 hours of flight time a day and the really exciting part was that they were hiring! It seemed as though Phoenix was calling our names : ). Jordan applied, interviewed and was hired. We moved immediately and have been here in Phoenix ever since. It has been everything we hoped for. The summer is beyond hot but our AC works good so it is bearable. We have had fun exploring the area and trying new things. I don't know if it's because heavy food doesn't sound so good when its so hot, but we have absolutely fallen in love with Sushi! I never would have thought it possible, me and raw fish, calamari? Yup...

We hiked a little hill by the airport that Jordan fly's out of and sat and watched the airplanes takeoff and land. Super fun and would do it more often but it is far to hot right now!
Another exciting thing that has happened in our lives since we have lived here in Phoenix is that we added on to our little family. A little baby boy!!...... Kitty that is : )
